Smoke Shop Knocked Over in Morning Robbery

According to Tony Rhodin’s article for the Express-Times today, the Smoke 2 Go shop in downtown Easton, nestled between the WaWa and Condoms Galore on Larry Holmes Drive, was robbed at gunpoint at 8:30 a.m. this morning. The suspect is still at large, and described as a black male, 5’6″ – 5’8″ wearing a hoodie, baseball cap, sunglasses and a dark puffy coat, carrying a black handgun, and driving a dark-colored GMC SUV. Strangely, the surveillance photo posted with the article shows what appears to be a white guy with a mustache, but hey–it’s from from a distance–and he is wearing sunglasses…

I present this as exhibit B-271 of my rebuttal against those in Easton who continue to push the misconception that crime in Easton is only dangerous to those somehow involved in the drug trade. What about the cashier? Or the morning customers in the store?

If anyone has any information on this incident, please call Lieutenant Matthew Gerould of the Easton Police Department at 610-250-6634.

  1. Interesting coincidence that the owner of this store was just in front of the Planning Commisssion on Nov. 7th requesting a special exception use to add a check cashing business to the smoke shop.

He had all kinds of assurances that security would be air-tight and “not a problem”. I don’t think he has any idea what he was in for.

We politely sent him on his way – without an approval.
